Malaysian university launches 'fully online' MBA

Universiti Tun Abdul Razak is using Australia's OpenLearning social learning platform.

Malaysia's Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) is to deliver its established Master in Business Administration (MBA) course fully online to students across Malaysia and around the world in collaboration with Australia's OpenLearning platform.

Asst. professor Johari Mat, dean, Graduate School of Business, UNIRAZAK, said: "We are pleased to be able to offer the first fully-online MBA in Malaysia that delivers a flexible learning experience for working professionals. Students will be equipped with business knowledge and expertise that is relevant to their industry, while possessing the skills that will prepare them for leadership roles in their organisation."
Prof Johari said the subjects under the MBA have been designed to help working professionals to enhance their skills with the latest industry knowledge related to their current job.

Commenting on the partnership, Adam Brimo, co-founder and chief executive officer of OpenLearning, said, "This e-fully online MBA demonstrates how accredited postgraduate degrees can be delivered through OpenLearning, and it is a testament to our commitment to flexible education. OpenLearning enables public and private institutions of higher education to deliver massive open online courses (MOOC), blended learning and private online courses."

Prof Johari said the MBA is delivered exclusively online over one and half years. Students can enrol in any of the three annual intakes with the first intake starting in May 2017. Students in Malaysia and around the world will receive a UNIRAZAK qualification upon completion of course. Core subjects include:

8. Ethics and Values in Management

Students can select from a number of industry-relevant elective subjects including Human Resource Management, Investment Management, Organizational Development and International Finance and Customer Relationship Management.
Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) was established on 18 December 1997 as one of the first private universities in Malaysia. The university was named after Malaysia's second Prime Minister, the late YAB Tun Abdul Razak bin Dato' Hussein. Since its inception, UNIRAZAK was among the first few private learning institutions in Malaysia to receive the SIRIM certification of ISO 9001:2000.
