Malaysian telecommunication companies Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile as well as telecoms infrastructure company edotco have announced a collaboration to establish a safer working culture.
Under this collaboration, the companies have agreed to a single common set of minimum health, safety and environment (HSE) requirements for all main contractors and sub-contractors undertaking network infrastructure works at any of the telco sites.
This move was effective 1 September 2016, and all contractors are now required to comply and adhere to the new set of guidelines. Action will be taken against contractors who fail to comply.
A more systematic approach to safety, reduce incident risks is one of the reasons driving this collaboration. In addition, workshops and training will be conducted for contractors.
